From Kuala Lipis, it took us about 1 hour and 50 minutes to reach Gua Musang, although the total journey is only 106km but we only managed to go on an average speed of 41km/hour as the road out of Kuala Lipis are mostly small palm oil estate and village roads. The road soon join to the Lipis-Benta road which lead us passing Taman Negara and Gunung Tahan. Plus of course, the Third Eyes gang needed to stop just before reaching Gua Musang for some cool photography of the limestones hills along the way.

As we did not managed to went to the steam “nim yee” (ikan tapah) fish head place the last time we were in Gua Musang during part one of the Peninsula Makan trip, we wanted to find the shop that closed the last time. This time, we thought we are luck as the place, GM Food Garden (N4 52.954 E101 57.899) is opened! Unfortunately, there are no ikan tapah in stock, its a rare river fish, not to mentioned expensive too. So instead of having that, we ordered the patin fish instead, steamed herbal kampung chicken, wild boar, etc.

The food at this place is just ok if you ask me and the kampung chicken is not very good, not tasty, but since we are hungry from our travels, we still wipe everything clean. The only complain, this place is quite expensive, RM5.50 for 100g of Patin, the same fish sells for RM4.00 in Kuantan. Maybe its really river catch, I am not sure but for the food quality, lack of taste and prices, we really will not go back to the same shop again. Restoran 166 few doors away is a lot better as per our last visit.

Anyhow, after lunch, Gua Musang proved to be an excellent place for photography as it is surrounded by limestones hills. We had to stopped for about 22 minutes for the geeks to satisfied themselves. We then head on to Kota Bharu through the Kuala Krai on a 3 hours and 45 minutes journey. At 5.29:57pm, we have arrived in Wakaf Baru in Kota Bharu to meet up with Paullie’s friend aka Ah Fai or we like to refer him as Ah Fai siew ;).
