Andrew the nice guy decided to buy lunch and the few of us (4 all together) headed to the Vintry in Medan Damansara. What we did not expect was that at the end of the lunch, we were all being porkalious till we said we have enough pork for the whole week :P.
First impression when you open the door, Vintry looks nothing more than a wine cellar, definately not a restaurant but at the back of the cellar are some comfy tables where I would classified it as a good place to wind down and relax over wine or beer after a hard week, not to mentioned good food :).
Pork, pork, pork…that is all we want… we wanted to order the roast pork which is their signature but alas… its not ready yet :(. So we settled for some caramelised roast pork instead, RM 16 for 200g I think… can’t remember and we ordered 2 plates, greedy! Then we ordered a honeyed fried cheese and a sautee mushrooms.
The caramelised roast pork is nice, just like chinese roast pork being fried with a dark caramelised sauce, but I find it a bit too salty, but its perfect to take with wine or beer I guess but not on its own. Also 2 plates of this is definately a mistake, too salty and too much! The mushroom is nice, just simply sautee with garlic and the cheese is really good too, deep fried and extra honey is provided too. A little sweet for me the honey cheese but it was excellent for the rest. Hmm… not a good sign… becoming uncle, taking less sweet stuff :(.
I got a Fried Korean Noodles, which is basically instant korean noodles fried and topped with more caramelised roast pork! The others got the Pork Chop, Cuban Sandwich and Beef Burger. We generally share all the dishes but its so huge… we were having trouble finishing!
The noodles is so so only and a little salty with the pork. Pork chop is fantastic with a very rich creamy and cheesey sauce served with fried wedges and greens. The burger is huge, covered with cheese plus chips as the side. Cuban sandwich is nice too, filled with ham and bacons plus vegetables and cheese. Overall, I think the pork chop is the best ;).
I must say, we enjoyed the meal a lot and the waiter is friendly. But I noticed the price have increased slightly comparing with their menu available online, but I supposed that’s because of the crazy increase in pork price as well.
Overall, I would say, its a good experience at the Vintry, good food, nice enviroment and not too costly. I would really love to be back and hopefully this time, I can get to try the roast pork with a cup of wine prehaps ;).
