We were having a bbq and I head over to Piau Kee to grab some seafood. We went to the Puchong branch, they are also located in SS2 and Cheras.

They offer a varieties of live mud crabs… I am not sure about the crab sizing but I got the XL (looks like M to me) as they have ran out of XXL… it cost RM33.00 per kg, I applied for their membership card I got 10% discount on the spot, pretty neat ;) . I took 8 of them which comes up to 3.17kg, total RM 94.09, I will say that is not bad for it size. We had to let it breathe and brought it up the office to keep it alive till bbq time, thanks to KC for taking care of them… hehehe…

The other seafood stuff here are all hard frozen but surprisingly they are still very good and fresh when it was unfrozen to cook. We got some white prawns here, they have various sizes. The bigger one have about 16-20 pcs at RM38.00 (on promo) and 40-50 pcs per pack at RM24.00.

They also have some nice mussels and scallops from New Zealand which goes for RM19.80 per pack for scallops and RM9.90 for mussels. The mussels is ok but the scallop is a bit small in size. They also sell various kind of sauces and other ingredients you need to cook seafood here.

I would say this is a decent, clean and easy way for city folks to do seafood shopping. Now that I got a membership card, guess I will be back for more :)

Was out with John & Joe for lunch in Puchong on our way to buy some seafood for bbq… John kept telling me how nice and how long the queue is for Gao Ren Guan in Puchong (just opposite Leong Ar) on weekends. Just this morning, John SMS me that they have open up another branch in SS15/4E in Subang Jaya, must be doing well:D.

The restaurant is comfortable with aircond and nice decor too… from the menu it looks like very homestyle traditional chinese dishes to me… most dishes starts at RM8-12 each. They have quite a wide varieties like steamed salted chicken (RM20 for half bird), braised yam pork belly, pork intestine fried with pineapple, etc.

We ordered 2 of the recommended dishes, which is the stuffed tau pok with pork/vege inside and also the stuffed bittergound with pork/vege inside… small size at RM12 each. We added a fried nam yu pork belly and braised pig offal (meaning internal organs) at RM8 each.

First up is the braised stuffed tau pok, its a very light soupy dish with the tau pok absorbing all the juices, very nice. The bittergound is likewise, its the same stuffing and way of cooking. It quite nice and the soup is great with rice to me.

The braised pig offal is very soft and tender, certain parts have fats but you don’t really feel too oily. The namyu pork belly are deep fried to crisped with a very nice aroma.

Food quality and service here is quite good so far… price can be on the high side for its portion but its some sort of Chinese fine food place to me, its still cheaper than going to a proper restaurant to order dishes. At least here you can order small portion of everything and try :) .

I was having yong tau foo is USJ2 with my mum one morning and she told me to check out this yong tau foo in PJS, Sunway area… so happened this is also the regular shop of my buddy’s parents and his kids. This handsome but a little shy (you can see why in the following pix) of mine was nice enough to buy me breakfast there last week.

The yong tau foo here is a small stall with quite a few selections and some are quite unique like using long beans and big pieces of fish paste. I selected a variety, the taste and texture is not bad especially the fish paste but what’s really nice is their soup, clear, tasty and not too oily.

The crunchy selections seems to be my buddy’s favourite and I have to agree that some of them are quite syiok to slowly eat and chat over cups of coffee and teh ;) .

The parking can be a bit smelly as there’s a small market in front in the morning and they floor can be a little oily (be careful!) from all the frying at the stall. Overall, not bad la… pass and the aunty was funny saying that she would have decorated the servings nicer if she knew I was going to take photos :P .
