Penang – Hawkers Food @ New Lane (Lorong Baru), Georgetown

New Lane is one of my favourite night eateries when it comes to hawker food in Penang… there are just so much to offer here that you want to eat everything! It just located on the road outside Sunway Hotel but parking is really a challenge here but I had learnt that the best is to park at Lorong Kinta or Lorong Macalister (turn in from Jalan Burma) and walk there.

The anchor food place here I would say is Restoran Sin Yin Nam, which my favourite chee cheong chuk (pork intestine porridge) is located right outside. Its a super yummy bowl of porrige served with bbq pork (char siew), crispy deep fried pork intestine and boiled intestine. You can ask for other parts like the tongue or stomach if you fancy. Per bowl have gone up to RM4.50 on my recent visit but good thing is quality is still very good!

The pork satay here is also very good, especially the pork intestine satay, no strong smell, very soft and tasty! So good that we ordered a 2nd round after our first order, 20 pieces cost RM15.00 for us but well worth it!

The other good stuff here are their chee cheong fun which are served with prawn paste, Penang style, very nice but can’t eat much, too strong for me :) . The fried oysters and char koay teow is also not bad la, koay teow is RM3 while oysters small one is RM7.

I also ordered some popiah and over here in Penang, they like to soak their popiah with some soup, so you eat it wet at RM2.80 for 2 pieces. I also tried their chicken feet wantan mee here inside Sin Yin Nam to see if they can fight with kulim one. Its RM2.80 for the wantan mee alone and add RM1.50 for chicken feet. The wantan mee noodles itself is not as good, but taste is alright. Sides topping on the wantan mee is a lot for RM2.80 though, got bbq pork, mushrooms, fried wantan and porkball! The chicken feet is not bad too, very soft and yummy!
