Whenever we talked about Tan Kim Hock… most of us would think of their shop at Jalan Bendehara (N2 11.942 E102 15.128) but recently I was brought by Miharu to their other branch at Jalan Laksamana Cheng Ho (N2 11.670 E102 15.691) which is also their office and Hotel Tan Kim Hock. The shop here below their hotel sell various local produces like the usual and one of the thing they are known for ages is their durian cendol.

You have to buy a coupon at the counter before claiming your durian cendol at a counter outside. There are also choices like cempedak cendol and coconut syrup cendol. The durian cendol cost a whopping RM5.00! Its like the normal cendol but with generous amount of durian jam (you can also buy it in the shop) on it. Its a bit too sweet for me but generally for those who have not tried it can give it a try. The only thing I like about their cendol is the unique and creative paper box holder for the cendol they have there ;) .

It is my first time to Wilson Chicken Rice but it seems to already been very popular with the locals here. The shop is doing very well as there were a lot of people and for a while people were waiting for table. The workers there work quite fast so a short wait is required at peak hours.

All the chicken here seems to be deep fried type… the skin are crispy but soft and tender on the inner. Its not bad at all and the best part like how all chicken rice should be is their rice. I usually do not take extra rice but can’t help myself here :) . The rice is cooked from a very tasty and good stock making it flavorful and very very delicious!

It cost RM2.50 for chicken for 1 portion and rice is RM1.00 for a big size. Price is ok here and the good food (rice mainly) makes it a good place to go again ;) . I went to the branch in Jalan Gajah Berang but I found out that they have another branch at Lorong Bukit China.

Down at Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock in Melaka lies a small shop selling wantan mee, to the local its known as Ah Cheh Wantan Mee. The person whom started this shop was from Hong Kong and is one of those “ma cheh” (long pony tail single lady usually found working as maid or babysitter in the olden days) whom open the shop. However the ma cheh is no longer around.

The shop is small with just a few tables and only a few person working.  The people there are quite laid back and they like to take their order table by table then deliver the drinks before going to the next as well as the noodles and paying as well. So you will need a little patience if you want to dine here.

The wantan mee portion is a bit small for me… topped with char siew (bbq pork) and small pieces of shredded chicken and vege plus 3 wantan. The wantan mee is ok, good texture on the noodles but the key is their chili sauce which is good taken with the noodles. Drinks wise is quite thin in taste.

It cost us about RM15.00 for 3 persons for noodles plus drinks (not sure if its CNY, but a little expensive for small portion to me).
