I was introduced to this place some 10 years back when I was working Taman Maluri, Cheras. Those days after work for some occasion the whole office will go there for a good and cheap makan. Prices here have gone up over the years but food is still good la.

The thing I missed most about this place is the mini yau char kwai which comes with a very nice creamy kaya. The yau char kwai cost RM3.00 for a 2 person portion and for dine in, the little kaya provided is free. The taste of the kaya is marvellous, no wonder they charge extra for take away.  The idea is simply to dip the yau char kwai in the kaya, it serve as a good thing to eat when your tongue is burning from all the spicy thai food! Take away is RM4.00 per pack with RM1.00 extra for a small container of optional kaya.

I ordered a seafood tomyam at RM10.00, chicken feet kerabu at RM 8.00, grilled sotong at RM14.00 and fried kangkong at RM9.00.  The tomyam is good with generous amount of prawns and sotong. Chicken feet kerabu is the besssst… soft, spicy and sour and Miharu can’t stop eating it. Grilled sotong is nicely burnt like how I like it with 2 type of thai style chili sauce provided, yummy! Kangkong is good too, not too spicy and very tender.

Food is still very good and it is always crowded… we even say the myFM DJ dining here as well ;) .

Senjyu looks classy with its modern interior setting and design… the menu looks expensive too but the quality of food serve is very good and special too. We ordered their promotion set, which is a salmon fish head, cooked to your choice, we chosed salt grilled plus rice and soup for RM13.90. We also took their promotional unagi handroll at RM2.00, kind of small in size but the unagi is good and fresh.

Something caught my attention here is their goose liver (foie gras) which you can take as sashimi or with sushi. I choose the a sushi, 3 pieces for RM12.00, that’s RM4 per bite (its small) which is sushi wrapped with cooked beef with avacado and grilled foie gras pieces on top!

Being a fan of Ika (squid), Miharu cannot resist to order their salt grilled ika or RM14,90. The squid is not grilled too cooked but they left it a half cooked style, still ok but I prefer it a bit burnt type, don’t know how to enjoy la me… hehe… Lasty, we had a cheese with spicy salmon sushi, RM6.00 for 3. Its cheese on top with spicy salmon inside.

Overall, the food here is good in terms of taste and quality. Service wise, the people are a bit green, so a little patience is needed. Total bill came up to RM60.70 for 2 persons :) .

I had always been wanting to visit Jalan Sayur in Pudu to check out the food street there… finally on a Sunday afternoon, I had hours to kill and while driving out for tea, I decided to head to Jalan Sayur. Parking on Sunday was ok, I parked at Jalan Pasar and cut through the alleys to Jalan Sayur.

It’s basically a hidden street in between shophouses in Pudu converted into a food street with stalls offering all sorts of varieties with tables and stools all along the street. From what I observed, this place is mainly serving the local market as their main customer as it is the usual KL street hawker kind of environment, not many tourists may be able to take it but for people like me, its perfect!

Some of the offering I noticed here are things like chee cheong fun (quite popular from the crowd), homemade pau, porridge, all sort of noodles and my main objective, fried chicken! You will notice this small stall with crowd around it waiting for take aways. Winner’s Fried Chicken offers fried chicken drumstick RM2.40, wings RM2.00, L shaped drumstick RM 3.80, etc.

Although I am just looking for a snack, I took the L shape drumstick plus a pack of gizzards for RM4.80 and then headed for the tong shui stall for a big bowl (noodles size bowl) of leng chee kang at RM2.80.

There’s definately a huge varieties of food here and this place provides a very good local feel as well, worth checking out for a good street food feast!
