Miharu “da bao”  a few times from this place before and I was surprised that a Lam Mee from the shopping complex can taste so good… its not cheap though at RM8.80 per bowl, probably most of it goes to the rental! They have a set meal, which you can choose a meal you fancy (lam mee, lam rice, lam mushroom, etc.) with a side of your choice plus a cup of green tea.

I ordered the set at RM15, choosed the lam koay teow with a side of fried dumpling and foo chuk plus a green tea. Miharu topped up with another bowl of lam mee at RM8.80.

The lam mee have 2 prawns, some chicken and some dumpling meat covered with its thick and nice gravvy. The vinegar here is quite good too, nice to add on to the lam mee.

Not a bad place to eat at all but just that price side, really on the high side and oh ya, take away cost extra for the nice packaging provided. Interior is clean and modern type la… good for a quick meal and light chat .

I had sometime to kill just before dinner and was walking around new wing of 1U, then I saw Otak Otak Place. The place looks nice and the menu is quite interesting… so I sat down for a cup of coffee and to try their main dish, otak-otak.

I ordered a cup of kopi-o for RM2.30 which comes with a piece of biscuits on top, good presentation… coffee is ok la. Then I ordered the fish otak-otak for RM3.00, from the picture it looks like quite a decent piece of otak-otak, however the real thing is quite dissapointing in size. Its just slighty bigger than a piece of normal sushi, however lucky thing it comes steaming hot, so I actually had to use a fork and eat in many small pieces .

I didn’t try other stuff they have as I was saving my stomach for dinner. The place is comfy, service and WIFI is however good la .

I was told to meet at the Garden in 1U for a friend’s birthday dinner one evening and I had no idea where it is… this shows how little time I spent in shopping centers

Anyhow, I picked up Miharu and we soon arrived at this “outdoor cafe” within the 1U shopping mall.  White base with lots of greens is the theme of the place and the whole place looks like a nice big elegant and classy English garden.

My first thought was, hmmm… how can a cafe like this have good food, probably cake and coffee… so we got greeted by extra friendly and helpful staff and were shown the menu. The selection is not as comprehensive as a restaurant with the fact that this is a cafe but quite good for it’s size.

The first thing that caught our eyes were this appetizer which are six shots of vodka with fresh oyster and lychee in it! I could not imagine how it would taste it… but surprisingly it tasted ok and not as bad as I thought. The vodka is light and oyster goes good with the lychee covering its taste. However, this is something I would not want a second helping, don’t mind trying the first one .

We ordered jugs of fruit juice to share, the initial serving was quite watery… so we complained to the friendly staff and after checking with the kitchen, they were kind enough to change for us and the second time, it was much better.

Unexpectedly, the food here is good, first to arrived is the lamb shank serve with some sides of potato and nice tomato gravvy. Meat are soft, tender and very nice. The roast chicken covered with tasty gravvy and greens are very good as well.

We also got other stuff like pineapple fried rice, olio, spagetthi seafood and fish & chips too. Overall I must say food here is pretty good.

Another thing that impressed me is that, we bought a slice of cake for our friend and the kitchen was nice enough to help us decor the cake with topping and birthday greetings, I thought that is really creative and clever of them, bravo .

We had a very satisfying time here, good food, great service, worth trying. Cost about RM30 plus for 7 of us and the birthday kawan eats free .
