I did a google search on Little Ben in Kota Kemuning and I found an article in Clovetwo that quoted “Our food contains no MSG, preservatives or colouring. They are also prepared using fresh, natural and herbal ingredients, in keeping with the philosophy of Lifestyle of Health and Sustainability (LOHAS), which Beauty Square advocates,”.

I didn’t really know what do they mean when they say this cafe serve healthy food when I visited it this morning until read the above article. Anyway… I was dragged out of bed by KC this morning which then Heng Kiat the regular lead us there.

Little Ben is located in the factory area in Kota Kemuning which is a factory converted into a health and beauty centre by Herbaline. There’s a beauty center, yoga center and the cafe. The whole place looks very nice and comfortable with its natural design with a lot of plants.

Little Ben is nicely decorated giving me a fusion dining experience with free wifi and pork plus lard free… maybe that is why me and Miharu feels that the food is ok not bad but super delicious… heheh… missing all the unhealthy but tasty ingredents :P .

There’s an interesting promotion they are doing… if you are here before 11am, they have a daily breakfast set for only RM2.90 and if you are here after 11am, they have a daily lunch set at RM4.90 which is really value for money.

Some of us ordered the lunch set for today which is their Sailor Mee (Pan Mee) served with lemongrass tea… I on the other hand tried their Nasi Dagang set (comes with a lemongrass tea) at RM9.90. Little Rachel got the rainbow toast while her dad took the curry chicken rice and Heng Kiat topped up with a soya (served with peanuts inside) with yau char kwai.

Overall, environment is great, food is ok but for healthy concious folks who wants to enjoy a good massage or facial after meal… here’s a good place to visit.

There’s only 1 thing I miss about this place and its their Beijing style dessert… which are sweet potato covered with caramel which is served with ice water for dipping to harden it. Bei Ping is opened by a Chinese from China and its a halal restaurant as well serving halal Beijing Chinese food.

We revisited this small air-conditioned restaurant yesterday missing the dessert.Their acar appetizer is quite nice, taste is good and they use a lot of carrots and sengkuang which I liked a lot but it cost RM2.00 per plate and so is the peanuts.

Since we are having Beijing food, we had to order their Beijing Duck (known as Bei Ping Duck in their menu) which cost RM 25.00 for half a bird. The roast duck is serve in 2 styles on a single plate. Firstly, the duck meat are stir fried then serve on a piece of lettuce with a piece of the crispy skin on top with sweet sauce. The other style is the duck is then wrapped with sweet sauce and popiah skin.

The seafood pot cost RM42.00 but I am not really impress as the seafood mix and taste are just ok to me. We ordered some baby siew pak choy fried with garlic and also their Bei Ping taufu which are fried taufu stuffed with meat then covered with a thick gravvy.

Their lamb curry cost RM26.00 and its served with fried buns. The lamb smell is a bit heavy but the curry is thick but not strong enough to cover the lamb taste. Our last order is a “hung chou” fish steamed in teow style with taufu and salted vege. The fish is good but the flavours are not heavy enough to my taste and cost RM45.00 for a mid size fish.

The dessert is still the best, we were having a sweet time pulling the caramel as long as possible then hardening it by dipping into the ice water… fun! Best part, this dish is free on request ;) .

Overall the pricing is not bad, maybe next time will avoid the seafood and the add-ons cost quite a lot too like peanuts RM2.00 per plate and we got 2 and so are the acars.

Its Friday night and we were wondering where to go for dinner… then Ed recommend to the gang to try Thong Kee which is having a promotion where from as little as RM35, you get 3 dishes plus 1 free soup. So 8 of us head there and selected the RM98 package which comes with 6 dishes and 1 free soup, rice and drinks however are chargable separately.

There’s 128 type of dishes to choose from… so we got assam style steam tapalia fish, mango fried talapia fish, salted fish steam pork, fried lotus roots, bittergound fried with roast pork and a ginger chicken.

The free soup is chicken feet old melon soup which is quite ok and the best part is that you can ask for free refills for the soup which is a really good deal. The assam steam fish and fried mango fish is ok, in fact the mango fish is big in size, good value. The bittergound roast pork is a bit oily to me and the ginger chicken is just normal la.

The dish I like most is the fried lotus roots which is done in a salted pepper style but the portion is small. The salted fish steam pork is quite good too!

Overall the food here is not bad and provides a good value but… you have to make sure that you don’t order drinks… just drink soup? The Chinese tea cost RM1.50 per head, so we end up topping RM12 for that, RM1.50 for ice (very expensive for ice!), RM2.00 for peanuts and RM9.60 for rice. So do budget for the extras when you choose your package ;) .
