Puchong – Ah Wet Thai Food

One of my Thai mixed colleague recommended me to check out Ah Wet Thai in Yulek, Cheras and from the posting on some of the blogs, it was really drooling just looking at the pix.

I just got back from a business trip to Bangkok and Ciku initiate a makan at Ah Wet on the weekend and somehow I got KC to join us and he told me that there’s a new branch from Ah Wet in Bandar Puteri, Puchong which is nearer to us. So we got ourselves organised, got the directions from KC’ bro and we sure had a great time enjoying authentic thai food here.

Ah Wet is a corner lot with still a lot of parking around it since the new shops in front of it is yet to open. Service is excellent here, staff are friendly, very attentive and responsive, it couldn’t be better. Each guest are served with pandan water drink while running through the menu.

Since most Thai food in Malaysia lacks pork… we sort of targetted all the pork dishes, I ordered a Thai style pork knuckle at RM40, Pork Salad RM12, BBQ Pork Neck RM18, BBQ Squid RM18, 2 portions of tomyam RM15.60 and Pork Tofu for little Rachel at RM12.

The pork knuckle is quite well portioned and crispy with lean tender meat but the sauce is average comparing to those I had in Bangkok. However to be fair, they had tuned down all the sauces to fit local taste, especially on spicy-ness level ;) .

The BBQ pork neck is the best dish for the night and good portion for the price too. Its quite comparable to the bbq pork neck I just had in Bangkok, soft and lean, even those who take takes a lot of meat will love this. The BBQ squid is ok la, normal. Tofu pork also ok only la.

The pork salad is very authentic but its not as spicy as those in Bangkok which in fact is good for our kind of spicy tolerant level, but I know to people like Elaine, this is not up to her standard, LOL. Tomyam is also good with a good balance of sour and spicy level.

Overall food is very satisfactory and service is great, all of us left the place happy looking forward to return. They had just opened for 3 weeks when I had my dinner there, I am sure it will get busier with such good food and service ;) .
