I was at Restoran Chef Low at Lucky Garden in Bangsar for dinner, what I thought would be an ordinary order Chinese dishes restaurant turned out to be something great and really good cooking.
We brought our own river fish from Sarawak for them to steam and added 7 more dishes (yes, I think we got a bit carried away… as usual
).
Some of the more special dishes that I like here are the fried bacon but Chinese style. Bacon are fried crispy then cover with a light marmite sauce with chili padi cuts and lime giving it a little sweet, sour and salty taste. This dish is absolutely must try, fantastic and best taken with beer in my opinion.
The next good one is a combination I would never imagine will work… pumpkin fried with salted egg as the coating! But it turns out to be very nice, the pumpkin is sweet but the skin is salty and fragrant with the salted egg and curry leaves. This is clearly the winner for the night, only unfortunate thing is we have so much to eat and so little stomach space
.
There’s one simply dish that I really like which is the traditional sweet and sour pork (gu lou yuk). I told Miharu that its been a very long time since I had very good gu lou yuk the way it should be. This reminds me of how gu lou yuk used to taste when I was a kid (my favourite then when eating out). The pork and fried crispy with a light hint of well balanced sweet sour sauce, 5 stars in my opinion.
Miharu gave high marks to their Tau Foo Kang too which is a starchy soup of tofu mixed with other goodies like pork and mushrooms. Its not as smooth as those I like in Klang but its still fine and tasty in its own way.
The rest of the dishes are alright, very much dishes to go with rice and some tend to be slightly salty but overall we had a satisfied dinner here.
The service is good and lady boss taking our order is also friendly. I see a lot of local folks calling up to order food before coming to pick up. Overall dinner cost us RM220+ for 8 dishes (our own fish) for 9 people, I guess its ok since we ordered so much.
The only pain here is parking, so do come early and try not to park at tight spot, a lot of people tend to block or narrow your path here with inconsiderate parking.
To sum it up, this place is a must try and we already planned to be back again!
