I think the last time I had fish and chips last like last year July when I was at Fremantle having Cicerello’s – WA’s No. 1 Fish ‘n Chips!

I didn’t had much of thought about Fish & Co. because the appearance of the place really did not attract me at all but Miharu was in the mood for some fish and chips and so we ended up here.

We ordered the fried calamari as starters, that set us back by RM10.90 but it was really good. Calamari are thinly siliced and deep fried with coating of batter and herbs. The calamari goes great with the chili sauce provided.

Next up are some traditional fish and chips for me, RM9.90. Its a decent piece of deep fried fish, crispy from the outside but flaky soft from the inside. Its a little oily to me but the fries that goes with it are good. I asked for some vinegar to go with it but unfortunately the vinegar served here are really those you get at Cicerello’s, its just too strong.

Miharu had the New York fish and chips which is stuffed with cheese and its a little cheesy but better fragrant and rich at RM10.90.

Overall, the food here is good, service not too bad but would just been great if they had good and light vinegar for the fish ;) .

From wiki Xiǎolóngbāo, also known as soup dumpling,[1] is a type of baozi from eastern China, including Shanghai and Wuxi. It is traditionally steamed in small bamboo baskets, hence the name (xiaolong is literally “small steaming basket”).

In recent years, there are so many established that had mushroomed in serving dish like xiao loong bao around the Klang Valley… prices varies depending on where you have them. I like the one in Midvalley but that’s close to RM10 per order.

For economical and yet practical and good xiao loong bao, I like to just drop by Asia Cafe in SS15, Subang Jaya. There’s a stall here operated by a young guy from China.

Xiao loong pao

Their xiao loong bao is RM5 for 5 pieces and you usually have to wait quite long for it, at least 20 to 30 mins most of the time as it takes time to steam and they have a long order queue for it usually.

The xiao loong bao test is always how good it holds the juice inside and this one hold them very well but yet the skin is not too thick. The juice taste good and so are the meat but the vinegar/ginger used to go with it is just normal.

So for an affordable and good xiao loong bao, I would recommend this place, also try out their deep fried yam, very good too ;) .

One of my Thai mixed colleague recommended me to check out Ah Wet Thai in Yulek, Cheras and from the posting on some of the blogs, it was really drooling just looking at the pix.

I just got back from a business trip to Bangkok and Ciku initiate a makan at Ah Wet on the weekend and somehow I got KC to join us and he told me that there’s a new branch from Ah Wet in Bandar Puteri, Puchong which is nearer to us. So we got ourselves organised, got the directions from KC’ bro and we sure had a great time enjoying authentic thai food here.

Ah Wet is a corner lot with still a lot of parking around it since the new shops in front of it is yet to open. Service is excellent here, staff are friendly, very attentive and responsive, it couldn’t be better. Each guest are served with pandan water drink while running through the menu.

Since most Thai food in Malaysia lacks pork… we sort of targetted all the pork dishes, I ordered a Thai style pork knuckle at RM40, Pork Salad RM12, BBQ Pork Neck RM18, BBQ Squid RM18, 2 portions of tomyam RM15.60 and Pork Tofu for little Rachel at RM12.

The pork knuckle is quite well portioned and crispy with lean tender meat but the sauce is average comparing to those I had in Bangkok. However to be fair, they had tuned down all the sauces to fit local taste, especially on spicy-ness level ;) .

The BBQ pork neck is the best dish for the night and good portion for the price too. Its quite comparable to the bbq pork neck I just had in Bangkok, soft and lean, even those who take takes a lot of meat will love this. The BBQ squid is ok la, normal. Tofu pork also ok only la.

The pork salad is very authentic but its not as spicy as those in Bangkok which in fact is good for our kind of spicy tolerant level, but I know to people like Elaine, this is not up to her standard, LOL. Tomyam is also good with a good balance of sour and spicy level.

Overall food is very satisfactory and service is great, all of us left the place happy looking forward to return. They had just opened for 3 weeks when I had my dinner there, I am sure it will get busier with such good food and service ;) .
