This is one of the easiest thing to cook, its basically chinese water chestnuts, wrapped with streaky bacon and fried! Crispy bacon with and crunchy water chestnut inside! All you need to do is simply marinate your bacons with wine, it can be chinese cooking wine, red wine or white wine, all works fine. Also add in soya sauce, sugar and pepper to the bacon’s marinate.

Peel the skin of the water chestnuts then cut the bacon into half and wrap it around the water chestnut then hold it with a toothpick. You may also use cherry tomato or apple to replace the water chestnuts. Once all is wrapped up, heat up a pan and deep fry the bacons till brown and crisp. Alternatively, you fry the bacon in a pan for a few minutes, then remove the juice and bake them in the oven until it browns.

The juice that is being remove, mix with the balance of the marinate can be use as sauce. Just add in a little more wine and seasoning if needed and thicken the sauce with corn starch. Then serve the bacon water chestnuts with the sauce and I have added some vege in this case. :)

Meat meat meat, that is what Euro Deli is all about. This is basically a german meat house, selling processes meat (sausages, bacons, hams, etc.) as well as a nice cozy restaurant. The last time I came here it was 4 men sharing 3 dishes… hehehe… well besides saving money… the serving are big too. By far now, this is my favourite german pork restaurant plus I have the discount card, so kiasu a bit la.

Anyway, this visit I wanted to have something different from the common german sausages and pork knuckle. So I got the Pork Medallion which is pork wrapped with bacon fried top with sauce. They look small but half way eating, you can feel this thick and chuncky meat hitting your stomach. The other is Smoked Pork Lion, I just love it with mustards!

Wanted to try the german beer I saw someone drinking the last time but 500ml is RM26!!! So I decided to try their shraps which are german whisky. I saw one that is apple+pear… well naturally I thought its whiskey plus apple and pear juice… sounds good for a hot day. Unfortunately when it arrived, its simply a neat shot of clear whiskey (with apple+pear fragrant only)! Total damage is below RM60… highly recommended :)

Recipe: Bacon Fried Pasta

This is my very own chinese version of fried pasta… basically its pasta fried with bacon and vegetables. It’s really simple and fast thing to cook, simple ingredients includes pasta, dried shrimps, chopped garlics, bacon (I use bacon chips, its cheaper) and vegetables. Just boil the pasta till they are good and drain them, add a bit of oil in the boiling pasta so that it won’t stick together when drained. Put the pasta aside and start on the rest.

Oil the pan and fried shrimps with garlic on slow fire, once its brown drained them and set aside. Now fried the bacons with the remaining oil, once they are slightly cook, add in cooking wine (can be anything, leftover wine, chinese cooking wine, etc.). Once the bacons are absorbing the wine, add in the vegetables and stir fried them well.

Now mix a bowl with Oyster Sauce, Light Soya Sauce, a little Dark Soya Sauce, pepper and a little corn flour. Pour them in and add pasta. Stir until its all mix and cover well in slow fire. Then top it with the drained garlic and dried shrimps. Yummy!!!
