Nope… this post have nothing to do with bak kut teh… I was at Fook Hin BKT for dinner, but I noticed its more of a seafood kind of place just like unique selling fresh and live seafood rather than bak kut teh, maybe its sold there in the day time perhaps ;) .

Its Joe’s and KC’s big day, so we got together to celebrate their birthday and as our silly tradition goes, the birthday boys buy, thanks Joe & KC!!!

Finding this place is firstly a little challenge, its basically one of the corner houses in the village here converted into a restaurant. There’s limited parking in front, so do expect to be called to reserve your car during dinner but we went on a weekday, so the crowd is not that bad.

John & Joe did the ordering, the first to come out is a plate of steamed chicken with vegetables, nice to dip with the garlic ginger paste. Chicken is pretty standard, nothing much to shout about. Next up are pork knucles braised with chicken feet (I still miss the pork knucles with goose web in Sitiawan!) which is not too bad.

The goodies for the night then comes, firstly steam snakehead fish (sang yue), the flesh are sliced steam with the fish itself, soft, tender and yummy. Next is the silver promfet, steamed teow chew style, I just wish it was a little more sour and a little spicy chili padi would be great, but the fish meat itself is good and tender. The other yummy is their steamed frog legs with ginger and garlic paste, very soft and tasty! Lastly, one of my favourite all time its the lotus root fried with celery, carrot and cashew nuts, a must have!

We also order a plate of greens to fill up our vitamins needs ;) . All together with rice, the 7 dishes plus 5 bottles of beers adds up to about RM280-290 (can’t remember, this is what happen when you don’t have pay for it :P ) for 10 persons. Oh ya, they don’t accept credit card, so make sure you bring cash!

My good friend Boon is backed from Japan on ‘vacation’ again… hehe… he probably by now is more Japanese than Malaysian anyway, so let’s consider him back for vacation. Anyhow, he wanted to try dry bak kut teh and suggested that we go for dinner. I wanted to take him to Soon Seng behind Klang parade which I fancy the dry version pretty much but unfortunately its closed!

Anyhow, after consulting the local worm, Soh Cicak, we decided to go to Taman Sg Rasau and I chance upon Fong Keow which used to be a corner shop but have now transformed into a 3 shops BKT place! They also serve a variety of dishes besides BKT, talk about diversification! The corner unit doesn’t change much from the old place but the 2 new unit is very nicely renovated and decorated! Doesn’t look like a BKT place at all!

Bak Kut TehSeafood tofu

Besides BKT, they have like fried prawns which goes for RM21 per plate, herbal steamed chicken, seafood tofu, etc. Since there are only 5 of us… we ordered the normal BKT for 3 pax, added some straw mushrooms. Side order is a plate of vegetables and the seafood tofu. All these came up to RM58.00, oh ya, thanks Boon for buying! :)

The BKT here is alright, a lot of mushrooms and I like the fact they added some greens in the BKT too. The seafood tofu is quite tasty but a little oily, oh well, fried stuff. We brought our own tea, thanks to our tea expert Soh Cicak whom contributed good tea for us :D .

Nope this is not the popular Ah Sang Bak Kut Teh in Sg Way but its located just right down the road. I am not sure what is the name of this place, that is the problem of being banana, cannot read Chinese words but don’t see them having a signboard anyway :P

We usually parked at the open air parking place next to the Indian temple and walked up the stairs, then instead of turning left to Ah Sang, turned right and then first turning on left. Its operated from a house at it’s front porch.

Sg Way Bak Kut Teh

The bak kut teh here are pretty decent and not bad… nothing short of the ordinary and it is less packed and price is average too. Quite ok alternative for bak kut teh in Sg Way for me :)
