Yen Nam, the man who just got married decided to take us around Kulim for food till we drop… we started by going to Wenxi for Dim Sum. It was a Sunday and a working day there in Kedah but somehow, it feels like a non working day as you see most of the local are still at dim sum breakfast and Yen Nam seems to know everyone there :O.

I can’t recall how much was it, I think it was around RM60? for dim sum for 2 tables, consider cheaper than KL a lot. They have the usual steam and fried varieties here. The dim sum are ok, not bad and a little different from those in KL too. They have like steam yam dim sum there, something I have not seen in KL. The lotus leaf rice, fried lobak kueh and pau is quite nice as well.

USJ2 is one of the good place for breakfast and lunch in the USJ area, there are 2 Chinese coffeeshop there with good food and a row of stalls selling soya bean, fried stuff, etc.

I like to go to Kedai Kopi USJ2 just next to Shell petrol station, the yong tau foo here are quite nice. Its made to order, so basically you are given a piece of paper where you note down your orders and they will then make your yong tau foo based on the order, meaning start filling up there and then.

The yong tau foo is good but the soup is not nice. To take with the yong tau foo, I like to order their curry chee cheong fun. Its chee cheong fun topped with a thick curry gravvy with mushrooms and this fried fish cake like slices.

Petaling Jaya – Hailam Cafe
icon1 Cupnoodles | icon2 Klang Valley, Places to Eat | icon4 04 17th, 2008| icon3Comments Off on Petaling Jaya – Hailam Cafe

Hailam Cafe is located in Jalan SS2/30 in Petaling Jaya, it is the same row as Lobsterman just behind Yee’s Tuition. Its a corner shop by the lorong which looks like its spin off from the Tang House of Fishball, I noticed the staff wear the same uniform, having similar menu and serving the same yummy lime plum juice.

The main difference in the menu here are new items like fish noodles, which comes either in soup or fried with chee cheong fun. My personal preference is the fried fish noodles with chee cheong fun which goes for RM5.

Tea time snacks such as yam cake and Chinese desserts are available here too. Some of those available are sweet potato barley, black gluttonous rice, barley foo chuk jingko, etc. which goes from RM2 to RM5.
