We didn’t know what to eat one afternoon and wanted to try something new and so John says he will take us to this shop his friend took him in SS3, PJ. I had actually passed Chiew Sang many times but thought they only sells bak kut teh.

The moment you walked in to Chiew Sang you will see an Indian guy making the bak kut teh in front, as Brian called it Indian BKT… LOL…

Anyhow, we got a table for 8 and John ordered their famous fried fish head, some clear soup bak kut teh, their stewed bak kut teh, a tofu plus a vege dish.

The fried fish head is very tasty with a good hint of spiciness in it, very appetizing to go with rice. Fish is fresh and we almost cleaned the plate.

I like the clear soup bak kut teh, this is almost the teow chew style, clear but yet tasty and light. The only unfortunate part is that we ordered for 3 and the portion is still relatively small.

The other dish we had is the stewed bak kut teh, this is something new, basically they are very tasty stewed pork, very tender and tasty with the nice and thick stewed sauce.

I enjoyed the lunch here very much but only thing for me is the portion is a little small, so you gotta order a bit more and the price is not that cheap, so be prepared to spend a little more but at least the food here is good :) .

I was at Restoran Chef Low at Lucky Garden in Bangsar for dinner, what I thought would be an ordinary order Chinese dishes restaurant turned out to be something great and really good cooking.

We brought our own river fish from Sarawak for them to steam and added 7 more dishes (yes, I think we got a bit carried away… as usual :P ).

Some of the more special dishes that I like here are the fried bacon but Chinese style. Bacon are fried crispy then cover with a light marmite sauce with chili padi cuts and lime giving it a little sweet, sour and salty taste. This dish is absolutely must try, fantastic and best taken with beer in my opinion.

The next good one is a combination I would never imagine will work… pumpkin fried with salted egg as the coating! But it turns out to be very nice, the pumpkin is sweet but the skin is salty and fragrant with the salted egg and curry leaves. This is clearly the winner for the night, only unfortunate thing is we have so much to eat and so little stomach space :( .

There’s one simply dish that I really like which is the traditional sweet and sour pork (gu lou yuk). I told Miharu that its been a very long time since I had very good gu lou yuk the way it should be. This reminds me of how gu lou yuk used to taste when I was a kid (my favourite then when eating out). The pork and fried crispy with a light hint of well balanced sweet sour sauce, 5 stars in my opinion.

Miharu gave high marks to their Tau Foo Kang too which is a starchy soup of tofu mixed with other goodies like pork and mushrooms. Its not as smooth as those I like in Klang but its still fine and tasty in its own way.

The rest of the dishes are alright, very much dishes to go with rice and some tend to be slightly salty but overall we had a satisfied dinner here.

The service is good and lady boss taking our order is also friendly. I see a lot of local folks calling up to order food before coming to pick up. Overall dinner cost us RM220+ for 8 dishes (our own fish) for 9 people, I guess its ok since we ordered so much.

The only pain here is parking, so do come early and try not to park at tight spot, a lot of people tend to block or narrow your path here with inconsiderate parking.

To sum it up, this place is a must try and we already planned to be back again!

It was a hot hot night in Melaka, so me and Miharu decided to drive over to Batu Berendam Putra for some dessert and free aircond :P . According to the menu, Thong Shui House have 3 branches, one in Taman Kenanga Seksyen 3, one at Taman Cheng Baru and the one we visited is at Batu Berendam Putra.

Thong Shui House offer a range of Chinese desserts (thong shui) starting at RM3.30 up as well as various fusion drinks and ice blended desserts as well. If you are hungry or mouth itchy, snacks and various food dishes is offered too.

I went for the red bean with dumplings at RM 3.50 while Miharu choosed the lotus seed and black glutinous at RM3.30. We later settled for a glass of black cooler at RM3.00 to finish off our visit.

The red bean is soupy with a few big dumpling (tang yuen) and some longan as well. Its quite good, well, I like tang yuen, so anything with tang yuen is good to me :P .

Miharu really loved the black glutinous with lotus seeds in them. The santan flavour is rich, kind of a little sweet but quite ok, its thong shui after all.

Black cooler is funny, top black part looks like pepsi or coke to us and the bottom are ice tea. Mixed them up, its a pretty interesting drink but most important its freshing.

If you are looking for a nice place to lepak, chit chat for the night with some decent desserts (slightly pricey to me but what is not nowadays?), check this place out.
