Pun Chun have always been a famous restaurant for travelers to stop and have a fantastic meals of duck drumstick noodles, wan tan mee, yam puff etc. in the small crosstown of Bidor in Perak. Recently, Pun Chun had opened up a branch in Kota Kemuning in Shah Alam known as the Pun Chun Noodles House.

Just like the original place in Bidor, they sell the famous chicken biscuits “kai chai peng” and all sort of biscuits here too.

I ordered the duck drumstick noodles (RM6.50 - small) and their weekend special which is curry noodles (RM4.50). They also have a variety of wan tan mee, wan tan, etc. I forgot to check if they have the same yummy yam puff here as well.

Anyhow, the drum drumstick noodles is ok but somehow the taste of the soup and the duck still doesn’t taste as good as the one in Bidor but still good :). The curry noodles is alright, not fantastic but still yummy. But one thing, the tea is not really good but overall, ok place to go and you can see the crowd is pouring in ;).

Fancy for some nice and rich curry noodles? One of my favourite and I would rate it at top 5 is MC Curry Mee at Taman Seri Muda in Shah Alam. The owner used to operate a canteen in a factory but decided to switch business because of problem employing staff. The noodles is only available at this place in the morning and afternoon, at night they moved to coffeeshop near Public Bank next to Kesas. Since Micol asked for the address after I MMS her, check address at the bottom ;).

I ordered a big size one, which surprisingly still cost RM3.80!!! What value for money as what is inside includes noodles of your choice, long beans, chicken, taupok, etc. The best part is not just value but it tasted very rich, superbly yummy. A squeeze of lime on your sambal before adding it to the curry mee is a must!

What makes the noodles good is the curry base itself, they are particular about the ingredients used and all these recipes originate from Penang (I actually knew the family :P). So if you are in Shah Alam, give it a try, worth the trouble ;).

Kong Sai is well known for its baked pork ribs curry, you will see a foil wrapped pork ribs with curry in it. The curry is a little thick and rice too, excellent to goes with rice. Other home cooked style dishes are good too, I tried their minced pork steam with salted fish too.

Price is ok for PJ standands, for the above and 3 rice about RM20 plus.

Just head to Paramount PJ, its next to the Giant hypermart there.
