Passed by this place about 2-3 weeks ago, it had just open then and decided to check it out. The place is cozy and contemporary, very well renovated, looks like the owner spent quite a bit on the place. There are open air table outside or you can opt for seats inside the air conditioned restaurants. Service is also good and the owner is very friendly.

The waitress recommended their curry mee, it comes with a light curry gravy with a big spoon of sambal to mix in according to your preference. I mixed in the whole spoon and still find the curry to be a light, base is there but not thick enough, maybe this is their style. There are plenty of “tau pok” and long beans in it too.

Curry Mee

Something interesting here is their Sambal Udang Spaghetti, sort of a fusion mix. Its spaghetti topped with a sambal sauce, prawns and some vegetables. The sambal sauce is light but very spicy to me and my tongue was burning! But I would imagine this would be very nice to people like Elaine who love spicy food :P .

I find the papaya milk to be light too but the cincau milk is quite nice. Overall, for curry mee, I would still prefer MC Curry but the environment here is good, a nice place to sit down and chat over drinks and light meal. Total damage, about RM25.00 for curry mee, sambal udang spaghetti and 2 drinks :) .

I am sure many of us have been to Pantai Seafood in Kg Kayu Ara in Petaling Jaya, if you do, well, next door have opened up a new place known as Good Old Days (I think its the same owner as Pantai Seafood). It have its own building too and very ample of parking.

Its kind of a concept Restaurant imitating restaurant in the olden China era, the staff there dressed themselves like “sui yee” in those olden days kungfu series on WLT :P . The interior is quite comfortable, air conditioned with artificial trees all over. Oh ya, the other thing is, don’t bother asking for a cup or glass here, all drinks are served in bowl :) .

Dishes here starts at RM15, its quite reasonable for the environment its in and it specializes in old Chinese dishes. What I meant is dishes that probably our parents or grandparents are used to in the olden days. Things like ginger braised duck which are hardly found anymore is available here.

We are here for a farewell of the 2 Wei-s whom are leaving the company. Some of the dishes we order include steam talapia, stew pork with yam, mix vegetables curry, claypot roast pork, four heavenly gods vegetables, etc.

Mix vegetables curry

Overall, I find the food quality to be quite good, some are so-so normal and some are not bad. But the good thing here is the nice and comfortable environment with above average pricing. Worth trying especially if miss some of those old dishes ;) .

Pun Chun have always been a famous restaurant for travelers to stop and have a fantastic meals of duck drumstick noodles, wan tan mee, yam puff etc. in the small crosstown of Bidor in Perak. Recently, Pun Chun had opened up a branch in Kota Kemuning in Shah Alam known as the Pun Chun Noodles House.

Just like the original place in Bidor, they sell the famous chicken biscuits “kai chai peng” and all sort of biscuits here too.

I ordered the duck drumstick noodles (RM6.50 – small) and their weekend special which is curry noodles (RM4.50). They also have a variety of wan tan mee, wan tan, etc. I forgot to check if they have the same yummy yam puff here as well.

Anyhow, the drum drumstick noodles is ok but somehow the taste of the soup and the duck still doesn’t taste as good as the one in Bidor but still good :) . The curry noodles is alright, not fantastic but still yummy. But one thing, the tea is not really good but overall, ok place to go and you can see the crowd is pouring in ;) .
