John told me about this place in Shah Alam near to iCity that serve up very good seafood with reasonable price. With the birthday of John & Julian being in June, we decided to head there to celebrate.

The shop is quite new and its actually located at the Seksyen 7 road from iCity & UITM heading to Bukit Raja, Klang area. In Chinese, the restaurant name is “da fu gui”. The restaurant is 2 shops with aircond but we preferred to sit outside as the weather was good on our visit.

John ordered (since he is paying) 2 of their famous grilled stingray and it was good! The stingray is grilled with curry like paste served with lime juice and chili sauce. Each of the stingray cost us RM20.

Next up is their lala (clams) steamed in “siong tong”, you can add meehoon to it if you want but we didn’t. The lala is big and the soup is great, this dish cost RM24. I enjoyed the mussels very much here, its steamed in a paste of garlic and ginger costing RM 30 for a big pot!

We ordered a few other stuff like their “fung yuk” (claypot pork with lots of goodies), stir fried lotus roots, marmite chicken and salted egg mantis prawns.

It cost us RM331.40 for 8 dishes and 6 big bottles of beer for about 8 pax. Price is reasonable but most importantly the food is great! I was told by John that weekend is crowded so better to go early or do a reservation.

Their famous Penang laksa steamed fish is not bad too at RM57 using “hong zhoi” (red snapper) fish but unfortunately this came last and I was already quite full!

I had a great trip to Terengganu just last week for candat sotong (squid fishing) up at Marang, on the way back, we did a stop at Chukai in Kemaman for some nice seafood and of course the famous here are their stuffed crabs.

This round I decided to try a new shop and went to the all purplish Restoran Stuff Crab Kemaman. You can’t miss this shop, its on the main street with the other 3 stuffed crab place and its painted full purple.

Cold beer are available here at RM7.50 per can and it was a relieve for most as the weather is superbly hot. The owners are a busy lot and looks like a family business to me but they are still quite friendly and attending.

First up on our plates is the minced meat tofu, kind of something different, white tofu with saucy minced pork on top and very nice.  Next are some steamed crayfish and this is excellent as well as the crayfish (like shrimps actually) are fresh and tasty.

The vege we ordered is actually dried shrimp fried with cabbage, I was reluctant to order this as my mum cooks it all the time but they aunty told me don’t worry, their style will be different from my mum, so heck.. listen to aunty and order that… its stir fried till its quite soft and the a lot of onions are added too, ok la… but the presentation don’t look as good as it taste. We ordered another greens but it was a little oily.

The garlic prawns are yummy! Fried with garlic plus big and fresh, each of us had 1 of these! Each of us also had a stuffed crab each and I must say, the stuffed crab here is actually very good compare to the one I had before! Inside the crab meats mixture with some vege are sweet and tasty to my delight, good job!

The last to come are stir fried lala with chili padi… a little spicy but very nice and addictive, only wish the lala are bigger with more meat would have been much better.

Seremban – Yong Tau Foo @ 2020 Food Court

We was on my way back to KL on the highway when hunger strikes and so we decided to stop by at Seremban for lunch. Driving aimlessly I drove to Jalan Temiang and saw a few places I could check out.

I had passed by 2020 food court many times but have not eaten here before. As I was there way passed lunch time, most of the stalls are closed except for some vegetarian stall and a yong tau foo stall. We decided to give the yong tau foo a try and we did not regret it!

This stall is owned by Happy Days Corner and there is a huge type of varieties to choose from. The yong tau foo can be taken on its own or you can order noodles. I took a few and took it with curry noodles. The curry soup is great but only thing is the mee is kind of sticker and soft, so I would say avoid the mee and choose something else.

The yong tau foo itself its good, these are fish paste based and they are really good. I da bao a bunch of them after my meal back for dinner too!

They only open at 2pm and would usually close by 7pm, so this is another after lunch but before dinner place to eat but the food is good ;). So if you are on for a late lunch or early dinner in Seremban, this is a place to consider!
