Kit & Carol took us here for breakfast and its supposed to be a famous place in KK for fish head noodles. Located in Bundusan, Wan Wan looks like a shop in an industrial park (don’t ask me man, I just sit in the van and got there blur blur).

The place is crowded in the morning and there are choices of noodles and fish head or fish meat and type of fish you want. They even have “lung tung” (giant grouper) fish head here, expensive stuff! I just ordered the normal one with fish meat and noodles.

The meehoon type used are the thicker type with good clear soup. Slices of fish are then topped on the noodles which have some mixture of ginger, tomatoes, fried onions and salted vege too. The fish meat are very good and fresh which makes the noodles good ;) .

I didn’t pay for it, so don’t really know what is the damage but the noodles are good and judging by the number of crowds, makan here cannot go wrong la.

We were on our way to Pangkor for our very first batang trip and decided to stop by Kg Cina in Sitiawan for lunch before going over (that’s after having like 2 rounds of breakfast at the market and Jing Kee).

I didn’t even know that Ah Pek Lee had been interviewed by Axian until the boss told us that we should try his steam stingray and even Axian liked it. Anyway, when you are here, you should be able to see the full video of the interview running ;) .

We got down to business and order my favourite here, Lala Mee Hoon which is not the same as the Teluk Gong style but its soup based with local lala (thicker shells) and thick meehoon. The soup is milky but tasty and the lala is just fantastic.

Next up is KC’s favourite sar jiu fish which are powdered with spices before deep frying. Simply take it with the local Kg Koh chili sauce and its excellent. The chili sauce was also great taken with some cripsy oo chien (fried oysters) we order but I personally prefered their hot plate oysters omelette.

We also had a dry curry crab, again local style which is basically the most expensive dish costing us RM60 plus. As usual we couldn’t miss out ordering some greens to balance up the diet.

The most interesting thing we had here are some steam sotong. Everytime my dad come to Sitiawan, he will ask for steam sotong and most of the time they don’t have it. You see, the sotong need to be very fresh in order for you to be able to cook them through steaming otherwise its really not nice.

The sotong are simply steamed with what tasted like cooking wine, sesame oil and some soya sauce with chinese parsley on top. The result, its the best sotong I have ever tasted! If you ever have a chance to try, please try it!

The boss here goes to sea on his own to get his catch for the restaurant, so freshness is assured! Most of my visits here I will also see small time fisherman coming on motorbike to sell small catch to him as well.

Overall it cost us RM160 plus for 10 pax and I think that’s reasonable pricing. This place is getting popular and can get quite popular nowadays, there’s even a tour bus that stopped here for a big tour group to dine!

There’s only 1 thing I miss about this place and its their Beijing style dessert… which are sweet potato covered with caramel which is served with ice water for dipping to harden it. Bei Ping is opened by a Chinese from China and its a halal restaurant as well serving halal Beijing Chinese food.

We revisited this small air-conditioned restaurant yesterday missing the dessert.Their acar appetizer is quite nice, taste is good and they use a lot of carrots and sengkuang which I liked a lot but it cost RM2.00 per plate and so is the peanuts.

Since we are having Beijing food, we had to order their Beijing Duck (known as Bei Ping Duck in their menu) which cost RM 25.00 for half a bird. The roast duck is serve in 2 styles on a single plate. Firstly, the duck meat are stir fried then serve on a piece of lettuce with a piece of the crispy skin on top with sweet sauce. The other style is the duck is then wrapped with sweet sauce and popiah skin.

The seafood pot cost RM42.00 but I am not really impress as the seafood mix and taste are just ok to me. We ordered some baby siew pak choy fried with garlic and also their Bei Ping taufu which are fried taufu stuffed with meat then covered with a thick gravvy.

Their lamb curry cost RM26.00 and its served with fried buns. The lamb smell is a bit heavy but the curry is thick but not strong enough to cover the lamb taste. Our last order is a “hung chou” fish steamed in teow style with taufu and salted vege. The fish is good but the flavours are not heavy enough to my taste and cost RM45.00 for a mid size fish.

The dessert is still the best, we were having a sweet time pulling the caramel as long as possible then hardening it by dipping into the ice water… fun! Best part, this dish is free on request ;) .

Overall the pricing is not bad, maybe next time will avoid the seafood and the add-ons cost quite a lot too like peanuts RM2.00 per plate and we got 2 and so are the acars.
