We reached Jakarta just at after work peak hours rushing in traffic with everyone else to get to our hotel to get ready for our meeting next early morning.

After checking in, we decided to catch a quick but good dinner. Pak Sky suggested Bakmi GM which he had tried before and so we headed to the nearest one for dinner.

Bakmi is like sarawak kolomee but using maggi like noodles. Its topped with small pieces of chicken and mushroom plus vege. You will be given a small bowl of tasty soup to take with the noodles too and mixing some to the noodles makes it easier to eat.

There’s a set promotion, just Rp.20,000.00 for a set of bakmi special with 2 pieces of pangsit goreng and tiny little mineral water bottle. But being greedy as usual, we ordered more pangsit goreng, chicken siew mai and also tofu stuffed with meat (like yong tau foo la).

The pangsit goreng is technically fried wanton but with little filling and lots of crispy skins. They provide a reddish sweet sauce to take with it.

Overall, its a pretty good dinner and service is good as well, all of us walked away with bloated stomach ;)

I stumbled across this interesting Indonesian wine at the supermarket in Jakarta. Its a sparkling grape wine but looks like something brewed in China from the packaging!

The bottle itself is scary! Costing Rp.27,000.00 (about RM9.50) I told ok… let’s give it a try!

The label states +-5% alcohol… but I really doubt it, more like +++5% to me.. hahaha…

Anyway, the moment I opened the bottle, the whole apartment smells of alcohol. It look just like sparkling grape wine and taste very smooth, sweet and easy to drink like a light moscato wine.

However, after a few good sip you can feel the alcohol is really strong. It was an interesting try, quite nice and easy to drink but might just be too strong for me ;)

Like Pak Sky said… good drink if you want to get people drunk, just 2-3 bottles will do the job!

This is one of the oldest and historical temple in Batam, I think there are other temples too but this is the only we had a chance to visit during our last trip.

The parking is huge and there are lots of sculpture for those photo moments. There are also some stalls selling local “kueh”, praying stuff and drinks here. I saw quite a bit of tour bus here, so figure this must be a popular tourist attraction too.

In the main temple building, you can pray and there are lots of coiled shaped incenses having around with latterns making the temple look really good. When I was there on Sunday morning, there’s actually a buddhism class going on at the back with a lot of young students attending and its all done in Bahasa Indonesia.

So if you are in Batam, no harm checking this place out, plus can “bai bai” for health and happiness ;) .
