If you are even in Jusco Bukit Tinggi in Klang, I would highly recommend you try out Kinsahi, this Japanese restaurant on the 1st floor is not bad. But do expect a short queue as its quite popular, even after 9pm I noticed the crowd still keeps coming in.

Firstly, they will make sure they set everything on the table properly, including menu, plate, chopstick, etc. before bringing you to your table. Service is fast, as they are a lot of people working for a small place. They are also a little high tech, using a PDA to take your orders ;).

Price wise, not to say cheap, not to say too costly, above average but the food quality is really good! I ordered a Spider King Ramen, its basically your normal ramen, but they put the whole fried soft shell crab in it. But I thought its a little too salty, because they have some kind of meat floss looking thing added to the soup, otherwise is ok. Its RM19.90 for that bowl, but if you are not greedy like me, the normal ramen starts at RM11.90.

The sake sushi aka salmon sushi is priced at RM6.00 for 2 pieces, but the salmon are fresh and the serving is thick on the sushi rice. Their bbq squid is not bad too, I thought its a little costly at RM14.00 but its superbly fresh and soft, so quite worth it ;). Their soft shell crab handroll is about RM9.00 if I remember correctly.

So price wise, a little above average I would say but they compensate with a good surrounding (nice decor and setup), fast service and good food quality. Oh ya, 1 thing I don’t like is their appetizer cost RM5.00 and is not really nice, if you do go there, tell them you don’t want the appetizer, add a buck more and you get sushi :P.

My good friend Boon is backed from Japan on ‘vacation’ again… hehe… he probably by now is more Japanese than Malaysian anyway, so let’s consider him back for vacation. Anyhow, he wanted to try dry bak kut teh and suggested that we go for dinner. I wanted to take him to Soon Seng behind Klang parade which I fancy the dry version pretty much but unfortunately its closed!

Anyhow, after consulting the local worm, Soh Cicak, we decided to go to Taman Sg Rasau and I chance upon Fong Keow which used to be a corner shop but have now transformed into a 3 shops BKT place! They also serve a variety of dishes besides BKT, talk about diversification! The corner unit doesn’t change much from the old place but the 2 new unit is very nicely renovated and decorated! Doesn’t look like a BKT place at all!

Bak Kut TehSeafood tofu

Besides BKT, they have like fried prawns which goes for RM21 per plate, herbal steamed chicken, seafood tofu, etc. Since there are only 5 of us… we ordered the normal BKT for 3 pax, added some straw mushrooms. Side order is a plate of vegetables and the seafood tofu. All these came up to RM58.00, oh ya, thanks Boon for buying! :)

The BKT here is alright, a lot of mushrooms and I like the fact they added some greens in the BKT too. The seafood tofu is quite tasty but a little oily, oh well, fried stuff. We brought our own tea, thanks to our tea expert Soh Cicak whom contributed good tea for us :D.

Today is my turn to conned KC to lunch… all the way to Klang! Had a meeting there and so got him to drive a separate car. Jack and Julian came along, Jack know he is being taken for a ride but since he don’t want to drive, he got no choice, Julian on the other hand, just got conned :P.

We headed to Klang town to this famous Peng Heong Hakka place which Sam had been telling me for ages but I have yet to go. Tried to go there once for dinner but its closed! And later I found out, they open everyday expect the first day of Chinese New Year up to 4.30pm! :S. They have their own blog with some basic information, check out http://paikut.blogspot.com/

Anyhow, I got a feeling KC is cursing me when we reached Klang town as the jam was horrible because they had closed 1 side of the bridge at town :(. And when Jack got down of my truck, he remarked “I would never come to this kind of place” (referring to the jam and distance)… :(

The place is busy, food being served fast, friendly people and the food looks good. We order a piece of their famous, must have Hakka paikut which is a big piece of pork with a long bone at the side. The big piece cost RM10 and its chopped up for sharing. I am a Hakka but never had this before, should bring my dad there 1 day and see what he says :).

We also got a small claypot of mutton curry which comes sizzling hot at RM6. At first, I wouldn’t think curry would be good in a Hakka shop that specialised in paikut? But I was wrong, besides the paikut, I would rate this as the next best thing to have! Mutton are superbly tender and soft yet without the usual heavy mutton smell. A must I would say.

At RM6 each, we also got a small Hakka Meatballs, fried and cut up, its huge in size but its just ok to me. The sour and spicy vegetable soup is not bad, usually we have it in a light soup but this one is very thick, more to sauce than soupy type but its quite good and addictive to me :).

The rice here is not plain rice, should be cooked with stock plus ginger? Not sure but its like chicken rice, it have a very light taste in it, can almost eat it on its own. I usually try not to add rice, but really can’t resist it here!

So how good is this place, when the rice arrived and KC took a spoon of it without any of the above yet, he commented “the rice alone makes the trip worth it” and Jack after taking the paikut and curry “this place is definately worth coming” :). So judge it by yourself :P.

Restoran Wah Chai is just a regular small kedai kopi in Bukit TInggi Klang but what caught my attention here is their wan tan mee which comes in all sort of creative style. From the regular wan tan mee to things like curry chicken wan tan mee, honey bbq ribs wan tan mee, laksa wan tan mee, etc.

I snapped a photo of the signboard of the listing with my dopod (the worst camera you can get in a phone) as per the above, think you probably need to zoom your browser to see it. Its stated that the noodles starts from RM4.00 (hope there is no increase with the recent ridiculous increase of fuel prices) depending on the different type of style they have to offer.

I was there in the afternoon and they only had the regular and the laksa char sau wan tan mee left. I took the laksa char sau style, its basically a thick curry and laksa like gravy poured over the regular char sau (chinese bbq pork) and dried wan tan mee.

Its pretty good and not too bad. Its not something I would travel miles to eat (especially paying off my nose for fuel now) now but when I am in the area and wanted something different, I would definitely go there again ;).

This place have been around for a long time in Klang, just at Jalan Pekan Baru off Jalan Meru (near Klang Parade). This is one of the many places that’s already serving dried bak kut teh when other places have not done so.

On a weekday morning, the crowd is quite ok but lunch time and weekend will be packed. I ordered the soup as well as the dried one. The dried one is not bad but not spicy enough and lack those dried “yau yee” that makes it yummy! I still prefer the soup version of the BKT here ;)
