Miharu was telling me about this place and we had wanted to go there one Saturday morning but the queue was long with people waiting outside for a table, so we decided to skip… then one morning I picked up Sky and decided to have dim sum and decided to come here since Sky also high recommend this place.

Jin Xuan is nicely renovated with half open and half air conditioned. You are then given a piece of paper to mark your order of dim sum and drinks, so your dim sum are steamed to orders but for fried stuff and all they will bring it over.

Since there are only 2 of us and couldn’t eat much… we decided to stick to the conventional dim sum of har kow (prawn dumpling), siew mai (pork), steamed fishpaste, pork ribs and a bowl of porridge. The dim sum range from RM 3.50 to RM4.00 each and RM3.50 for the porridge. A pot of jasmine tea for 2 persons cost RM3.00. Prices are ok since the size of the dim sum are quite decent too.

Dim Sum means “touching the heart” in Chinese, so character it should have includes being fine, elegant, well prepared and so delicious that it touches your heart when eating it. I would have to say that the dim sum here is quite good, above average but have yet to touch my heart la… hahaha… but pricing is ok and taste is good, so no wonder they have such long queues. Hope that they can maintain their quality of food plus service here, doing a good job so far :) .

This BKT is clean and comfortable and most important of all, it is very good! Seems that its the number of BKT restaurant offering dry bak kuth teh is on the raise. Located in Sunwaymas Commercial Center (near Aman Suria) in Petaling Jaya, its located on PJU 1/3C.

Per pax for the dry portion is RM9.50 and the soup based is RM8.50 per pax. I got both to try and the bill adds up to RM24.10 with an additional of 1 yau char kawi, 3 rice and 2 chinese tea. Price wise is quite standard for BKT nowadays but what is good is their portion are generous that I like (last week in Klang, the portion is almost half less than here!).

The soup BKT here is good, not too heavy in herbs and very tasty. The meat are tender and soft (I asked for the small bone part). The dry one is a bit unique, its the usual dry BKT fare, cooking it in black sauce with lady fingers, dried cuttlefish, dried chili but this one is a bit sweet and a hint of sour taste, very nice!

A recommended go for me ;) .

Many PJ’s would know of this place famous soup place and its been ages since the last time I came here. Its located just right next to the Post Office in Paramount Garden just opposite Caltex (nearby O&S coffeeshop).

Last week not knowing where to go, I somehow ended here for a simple dinner. They serve all sort of soup and if you are not early, its a good idea to call and reserve the soup you want in advance, otherwise you will have less choices. Soup starts at RM5 up to RM20 depending on the different type and ingredent.

We ordered a simple pig’s stomach & chicken feet soup, some vegetables and a small plate of steamed minced pork plus rice. The soup is good, the pig’s stomach is really soft and tasty with onions and pepper in it. The pork is quite nice too, not too salty but tasty.

The portions may be small, but I supposed its just right and it cost less than RM15 for 2 persons for some tasty simple food. If you don’t mind street side stalls and want some good soup (especially just after rain and cooling), its a great place to be ;) .
