I got up very early this Sunday morning despite sleeping late the previous night from a full day of activities and food shopping and preparation. I then got down to get all the food we have prepared ready and head out to Subang Jaya’s wet market to get some of my favourite fried noodles and siew yok plus some mang chang kueh from PJ Pancake (this guy on bike who sells mang chang kueh, very popular).

Finally, by 8.30am… we are ready to depart for our little picnic trip to Hutan Lipur Lentang in Pahang. I took us about 1 hour to reach Lentang through the Karak Highway. This park is located just next to the Karak Highway after the Bukit Tinggi turning. You will see the signboard to turn left to Lentang and you technical go under the highway to get to the otherside.

You can drive into the park, we went all the way to the end of the tarred road and park our car there. It was about 9.30am then and its already quite a lot of people there. We took the small trail next to the car park along the river uphill to the higher part of the river which flow from the waterfall.

We didn’t want to go too deep to the bigger waterfall (as per what I read on some website) but stopped at a nice picnic spot by a bridge. We setup a tent there for changing of clothes and a picnic canvas to put our food. We had prepare lots of yummies like fruits/vege salad with thousand island dressing (mix mayonese, ketchup, sugar, salt, pepper & some vinegar to taste), sardine sandwich, cocktail sausages with mustard… then packed food from the market includes fried noodles with good sambal, siew yok and mang chang kueh.

We also brought some tangerine oranges and packet drinks along which we dipped in the river to keep them cool. After a quick setup, we got filled ourselves up before getting ourselves wet. The water here is superbly icey cold! There are some nice spot and some parts are dip enough and nicely shaped for a nice lie down, reminds me of the spa I went to in Glenmarie ;).

The entire morning was really cooling and not wet, but when the sun came out, surprisingly the place is still very cooling with very nice breeze flowing down with the river. It was so relaxing that most of us was tempted to take a nice nap here after all the makan and spa in the mini waterfall next to us.

It was indeed worth all the preparation effort and this is a cool spot to come back for picnic or camping ;).

Its been a while since I visited Seng Weng Yong Tau Foo for lunch in Kg Cempaka, PJ. Things have changed a lot here, they have now reduced the size of their yong tau foo kitchen and have incorporated stalls to sell mix rice, char koay teow, chicken rice, etc. They have also extended to the next door unit to provide more seating place.

The chicken rice stall here provides really value lunch meal, a plate of standard chicken rice goes for RM3.00 here. Yup, RM3.00 in the midst of all the increased fuel prices and the whole economy going into recession. So, if want to save money, this is the place to eat!

The chicken rice of standard portion, rice plus roast chicken and a bowl of soup. Joe asked for extra sauce as its a bit dry and the lady offered us the chicken sauce gathered during roasting. The sauce is thick and you just need to dip a little with your chicken and it makes a lot of difference. Plus, its only RM3.00, what you want la???

This guy in USJ2 named his nyonya style curry noodles after himself, Fu Shoulou, direct translation means Moustache Man as how the boss looks like. You will see him standing at his stall there coordinating his workers around. Business looks good here, as the noodles sell fast and you can see the 3-4 workers cooked and served non stop.

The curry is light in color but very tasty and is served with tau pok, long beans and topping of your choice. You can choose roast pork (siew yok) – RM5.00, string rays curry – RM5.00 or lala seafood – RM15.00. The curry noodles is very nice, light and tasty, I got the roast pork one and its really nice. I heard the lala seafood one is big and packed with goodies!
