John told me about this place in Shah Alam near to iCity that serve up very good seafood with reasonable price. With the birthday of John & Julian being in June, we decided to head there to celebrate.

The shop is quite new and its actually located at the Seksyen 7 road from iCity & UITM heading to Bukit Raja, Klang area. In Chinese, the restaurant name is “da fu gui”. The restaurant is 2 shops with aircond but we preferred to sit outside as the weather was good on our visit.

John ordered (since he is paying) 2 of their famous grilled stingray and it was good! The stingray is grilled with curry like paste served with lime juice and chili sauce. Each of the stingray cost us RM20.

Next up is their lala (clams) steamed in “siong tong”, you can add meehoon to it if you want but we didn’t. The lala is big and the soup is great, this dish cost RM24. I enjoyed the mussels very much here, its steamed in a paste of garlic and ginger costing RM 30 for a big pot!

We ordered a few other stuff like their “fung yuk” (claypot pork with lots of goodies), stir fried lotus roots, marmite chicken and salted egg mantis prawns.

It cost us RM331.40 for 8 dishes and 6 big bottles of beer for about 8 pax. Price is reasonable but most importantly the food is great! I was told by John that weekend is crowded so better to go early or do a reservation.

Their famous Penang laksa steamed fish is not bad too at RM57 using “hong zhoi” (red snapper) fish but unfortunately this came last and I was already quite full!

We didn’t know what to eat one afternoon and wanted to try something new and so John says he will take us to this shop his friend took him in SS3, PJ. I had actually passed Chiew Sang many times but thought they only sells bak kut teh.

The moment you walked in to Chiew Sang you will see an Indian guy making the bak kut teh in front, as Brian called it Indian BKT… LOL…

Anyhow, we got a table for 8 and John ordered their famous fried fish head, some clear soup bak kut teh, their stewed bak kut teh, a tofu plus a vege dish.

The fried fish head is very tasty with a good hint of spiciness in it, very appetizing to go with rice. Fish is fresh and we almost cleaned the plate.

I like the clear soup bak kut teh, this is almost the teow chew style, clear but yet tasty and light. The only unfortunate part is that we ordered for 3 and the portion is still relatively small.

The other dish we had is the stewed bak kut teh, this is something new, basically they are very tasty stewed pork, very tender and tasty with the nice and thick stewed sauce.

I enjoyed the lunch here very much but only thing for me is the portion is a little small, so you gotta order a bit more and the price is not that cheap, so be prepared to spend a little more but at least the food here is good :).

Its lunch time and the ‘2 shy boys of cyberjaya’ (new nick for you know who you are!) brought me to Dengkil for lunch… this time, we are trying out One One Three Seafood there. Its just opposite the community hall in Dengkil in Jalan Aman 1. Its a corner shop but opposite the road they have an outdoor area with canopy.

I was being haunted by Bangkok Joe with issues on the phone when I got there so this time I leave the ordering to the 2 shy boys of cyberjaya la…. after all these are the local worms… can’t argue with them right?

Since there are only 4 of us… the order is a small pot of curry fish head, a plate of ku lou yok (sweet sour pork) and a plate for fried vege (I am surprised, one of the shy boy will order vege!)…. anyway.. the curry was ok.. lots of fish and vege, its a more yellowish type… probably the curry base they use is different but I still prefer thicker fish head curry.

Ku lou yok is not bad, pretty nice and vege is standard la… they have this pei par duck, about 20 plus for half a bird but we didn’t try this round. Even in the afternoon, thanks to the many fans they have… its still don’t feel too hot eating in the open. The bill came up to RM45 for all the above plus tea and rice for 4 of us :).
